government control

I think one way the government is trying to control us is using the internet. The government is already trying to censor things that go on with the internet. They want to be able to control what we can and can't do on the internet yet also try and see what we do while we are using it also. The government is trying to make it to where they are the ones that make it known that they can let us look or be on certain things that they feel they will be able to control easily instead of going through a whole bunch of technology issues when trying to figure out what sites everyone in the country has been on. I feel that if this law is to be passed then no one will really have any privacy whatsoever. The government will know at any time of the day what everyone is doing and what they're on. They'll even know how some people's conversations are depending on how well they end up controlling everything. Our government is trying to get rid of social networks like Facebook because of so many online fighting and bullying. It is said that the government wants to be able to control what is being said and done on the social networks so that if something bad happens they are able to sue someone or people within a second. This is how I feel about how the government is trying to control us and what we do on a day to day basis.

relate to another movie/story

I chose The Giver as my related story for the book Uglies. the reason I chose this book was because it reminds me a lot of the book Uglies, in the Giver the people there are pretty much in a Utopia. They are to follow the rules there and people as well are seperated, the woman are on one side of the city while the men are on another side. Just like when you turn 16 in the uglies you get an operation, well in the giver once you turn a certain age you have to go to this building where they choose your mate and you have to make a child. The girls in the story are really young but when the men are involved they are a much older depending how the girl is. It also reminds me of the giver because Shay runs away because she doesn't want to have the operation done to her she doesn't see any point in it. In the giver there is a boy who runs away because he doesn't like the way things are ran in the city he lives in. But on top of that he had fallen in love with this girl in the other city and its forbidden. He wants to be with her so he ends up running away to try and be with her. So i thought that The Giver was a good choice for choosing a story or movie that relates to the book Uglies.
